Speaker Biographies

Gerhard Watzinger BioGerhard Watzinger
Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Business Development, McAfee

Gerhard Watzinger is responsible for guiding the McAfee global business strategy and development. Watzinger has helped accelerate the international expansion of McAfee and has directed the company through numerous successful mergers and acquisitions, which have resulted in record revenue growth and increased market share.

Prior to joining McAfee in 2007, Watzinger was chief executive officer of SafeBoot Holdings B.V., a leading enterprise security software vendor for data encryption and user authentication. With vast experience in information technology and global business development, Watzinger grew SafeBoot from a small, owner-operated company to an internationally recognized IT security firm with Fortune 500 customers in more than 70 countries.

Before SafeBoot, Watzinger served as chief executive officer at iGate, where he expanded the company’s outsourcing and offshore businesses to several thousand employees. His other managerial positions include partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ consulting division, and managing director for Capgemini International.

In addition to keynoting a number of events throughout his career, Watzinger is on the board of directors at Mastech, a publicly traded IT outsourcing company in Pittsburgh.

Watzinger has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Technical University of Munich in Munich, Germany.


Steve Redman BioSteve Redman
President, Asia Pacific, McAfee

Steve Redman is responsible for all business operations for McAfee in the Asia Pacific region, including North Asia, South East Asia, India, Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to joining McAfee in January of 2008, Redman spent eight years at EMC, most recently as vice president of Asia Pacific. In this position, Redman had responsibility for the field operations of EMC Software Group across Asia Pacific and Japan. Before he became the region's vice president for EMC Software Group, Redman was managing director of EMC Australia and New Zealand. He has also held senior management positions with Rockwell Electronic Commerce, Lucent Technologies and Fuji Xerox.

Redman holds a diploma in A/C engineering and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Macquarie University. He is also on the Nobel Laureates Advisory Board, and is an associate lecturer in the MBA program at the University of Technology, Sydney.

 

George Kurtz BioGeorge Kurtz
Worldwide Chief Technology Officer & Executive Vice President, McAfee

As worldwide chief technology officer, George Kurtz is responsible for driving the integrated security architectures and platforms that have propelled McAfee into a leadership position in digital security. His entrepreneurial background and ability to commercialize nascent technologies enable him to drive innovation throughout McAfee by identifying market trends and correlating them with customer feedback to optimize product direction and development.

Kurtz’s previous roles at McAfee include senior vice president and general manager of the Risk and Compliance Business Unit, where he was responsible for driving worldwide growth in the risk and compliance segments. He helped transform McAfee from a point product company to a provider of security risk management and compliance optimization solutions. Kurtz formerly held the position of senior vice president, McAfee Enterprise, where he was responsible for helping to drive the growth of the enterprise product portfolio on a worldwide basis.

Prior to joining McAfee, Kurtz was chief executive officer of Foundstone, Inc., which was acquired by McAfee in October 2004. Before Foundstone, he served as a senior manager and the national leader of Ernst & Young’s Security Profiling Services Group.

Kurtz was awarded the Software Council of Southern California’s Software Entrepreneur of the Year 2003 and Software CEO of the Year 2005, as well as Fast Company’s Fast 50, American Electronics Association’s Outstanding Executive, Deloitte’s Fast 50, Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist, Orange County’s Hottest 25 People, and numerous other honors.

 

Candace Worley BioCandace Worley
Senior Vice President & General Manager, Endpoint Security, McAfee

Candace Worley is responsible for defining and executing the strategic direction for the McAfee endpoint security business. Worley leads the engineering, marketing, and sales functions that drive worldwide growth for this area of the business, including McAfee’s anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, web security, desktop firewall, intrusion prevention, network access control, application control, and encryption products.

Worley has been with McAfee since 2000 and has 17 years of cumulative enterprise product management technology experience. Before joining McAfee, she spent seven years with Mentor Graphics where she led a team of product managers responsible for electronic design automation and electronic component software.

Worley has a bachelor’s degree in management from Oregon State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Marylhurst College (now Marylhurst University).

 

Mike Sentonas BioMichael Sentonas
Vice President, Chief Technology Officer,
Asia Pacific, McAfee

Michael Sentonas is responsible for driving the integrated security architectures and platforms that have propelled McAfee into a leadership position in digital security, with a focus on the Asia Pacific region (APAC). His background in sales and engineering enable him to drive innovation and optimize product direction and development.

With McAfee since 2000, Sentonas was previously responsible for Sales Engineering and Services in APAC. He has over fifteen years experience in the IT industry, focusing on internet security solutions with past roles including software development, security consulting and management.

An active public speaker on security issues, Sentonas shares his experience and gives regular insights in technology trade publications and on technology centric Web sites. He has spoken around the world at sales conferences, customer and non-customer conferences and contributes to various government and industry associations’ initiatives on security.

 

Mike Sentonas BioRees Johnson
Senior Vice President & General Manager, Network Security, McAfee

Rees Johnson is responsible for defining and executing the strategic direction for the McAfee network security business. Johnson leads the engineering, marketing, and sales functions that drive worldwide growth for this area of the company, including McAfee’s firewall, intrusion prevention, network behavioral analysis, network access control (NAC), and network threat response products.

Prior to this position, Johnson led worldwide product management and was responsible for directing and prioritizing McAfee’s research and development efforts. He has also led the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) security platform as vice president of system security and ePO product management. Johnson joined McAfee in 2003 through the acquisition of Entercept (HIPS), where he ran product management. He began his career at Accenture building enterprise applications for several of the world’s largest telecommunication companies.

Johnson holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with majors in finance, strategic management, and information systems.

 

Scott Chasin BioScott Chasin
Chief Technology Officer, SaaS, McAfee

Scott Chasin is responsible for the technological vision of the McAfee Content & Cloud Security business. He leads the engineering function that drives growth for this area of the business, including McAfee’s email and web security and data loss prevention products. The content security solutions span on-premise software, gateway appliances, and cloud-based Security-as-a-Service offerings.

Prior to its acquisition by McAfee in 2009, Chasin served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of MX Logic. He was also CTO and Chief Visionary for USA.NET, helping establish the company as one of the first global providers of Internet-based email and advanced messaging services.

Widely recognised as a leading visionary in the messaging industry, Chasin pioneered the development and marketing of internet messaging and collaboration technologies. He is credited with the launch of the first web-based email consumer service, and he delivered the first IP-based commercially hosted messaging service supporting thousands of businesses and millions of end users worldwide. He also created and moderated the first full-disclosure security discussion list, Bugtraq, and was a key contributor to the creation of the first open-source, one-time password system, S/Key.
